August 14, 2024 –NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Connecticut’s Morning Buzz Host Natasha Lubczenko recently met with Dominic Mantuano, Executive Director of the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation, and Attorney Alex Mario from The Carter Mario Law Firm, to discuss their partnership aimed at supporting children who have survived burn injuries. The Connecticut Burns Care Foundation provides crucial services, including a special camp that allows burn survivors, aged 8 to 17, to experience the joys of a summer camp at no cost. It’s called the Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp. Mantuano explained, “These kids get to go to camp and experience everything every other camper gets to experience: rock climbing, arts, crafts, archery, and they just get to be kids.”
Alex Mario shared the law firm’s commitment to community support through their CarterCares Charity Foundation, highlighting their recent visit to the camp. She said, “We have donated several times throughout this year to them. And I recently just had the opportunity to go to the camp that they put on once a year, and it was really an amazing thing to be a part of.” Alex surprised Dominic with the news that the law firm has decided to fully sponsor a child to attend the camp, further cementing their dedication to this cause.
The camp provides more than just a week of fun; it offers emotional healing and a sense of community for the children. As Dominic Mantuano noted, “It’s not only on the outside. The scars are there on the inside too, and that’s what we concentrate on. It’s all the inner heart of the person, of the child.” The program also encourages former campers to return as counselors, fostering a lasting family atmosphere.
